KUWAIT:Preparations are proceeding for the 16th edition of the Arab Media Forumscheduled on April 20-22, the forum's Secretary General Madhi Al-Khamis said ina statement on yesterday. Patronized by His Highness the Prime Minister SheikhJaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the forthcoming session will group foreign,information ministers, owners of Arab media organizations, senior officials,eminent journalists, writers, broadcasters, celebrities, media professors andstudents from Arab universities.

Registration forparticipation in the planned event has already begun, says Khamis, adding thatthere has been also coordination with relevant local and external authoritiesto draft the agenda. The main sessions, along with sideline workshops andseminars will tackle a host of crucial issues for sake of re-affirming themajor role played by the media for the making of the public opinion,censorship, accountability and dissemination of the truth to the massesobjectively, he said.

Khamis expresseddeep gratitude to the Kuwaiti State and Government, namely His Highness thePrime Minister, for special concern and care for the activities, organized bythe forum management. He also thanked Minister of Information and Minister ofState for Youth Affairs Mohammad Al-Jabri for his ongoing backing for the forumactivities. The Kuwaiti Ministry of Information is a strategic partner for theforum due to its efforts at the local and Arab levels, he continues.
