KUWAIT: Criminal detectives arrested an Asian man who does not work for the Ministry of Health with possession of a bag full of painkillers, antihistamines, antibiotics, and blood pressure and diabetes medications, a ministry official said yesterday. The drugs confiscated in five medium-sized boxes were of an unknown source, and some of the drugs were labeled for private hospitals, Assistant Undersecretary for Drug and Food Control Affairs Abdullah Al-Bader said in a statement yesterday. Investigations are underway to find the source of the drugs, including questioning suppliers of these medications in Kuwait to find out to whom they sold the drugs.

Fatal accident
Nuwaiseeb fire station men responded to a scene where a vehicle flipped over on King Fahd Road. One passenger died on the scene, while another was injured. Firefighters handed over the deceased's body to the coroner while the injured man was taken to hospital. An investigation was opened into the accident. Meanwhile, Sulaibkhat and Doha firemen dealt with a blaze reported in a makeshift warehouse on top of a Sulaibkhat house where tents were stored. In the meantime, Mubarak Al-Kaber hazardous materials and Qurain fire stations dealt with a house fire in Dhaher. Smoke filled the house as firemen rescued a child. The child and two firemen were taken to hospital for treatment.

Cooperation meeting
A delegation from the National Guard Inspection Directorate visited the Quality Control and Academic Accreditation office at the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training to discuss cooperation and improve work procedures. The delegation was met by office director Mohammad Al-Hamdan. Director of National Guard Inspection Department Colonel Faisal Sagheer conveyed greetings of the National Guard leadership.
