KUWAIT: Prime Minister-designate HH Sheikh Ahmad Al-Nawaf Al-Sabah continued on Tuesday meetings with lawmakers over the formation of the Cabinet and future plans following general elections last month. The premier met on Monday 15 MPs and on Tuesday met around the same number of lawmakers from different political groupings.
MP Hani Shams said the meeting with the prime minister was fruitful and extremely positive. He said among issues raised with him were the revocation of citizenships, stateless people locally known as bedoons and the Amiri pardon of political prisoners.
MP Khalil Al-Saleh said they called on the premier to increase the salaries of Kuwaitis and raise the minimum pension of retired people to KD 1,000 monthly. He added that they also urged the prime minister to present a fair solution for the problem of bank loans taken by citizens, in addition to preparing a comprehensive plan to employ young graduates.
Meanwhile, four candidates who lost the Sept 29 elections filed official petitions to the constitutional court challenging the results of the polls and demanded recounting of votes. They include former veteran lawmaker Saadoun Hammad, former MP Khaled Al-Shulaimi and Bader Al-Sayyar.
