KUWAIT: More than 200 people were arrested in a massive security campaign that covered several industrial areas in two governorates yesterday. Capital and Ahmadi Security men cordoned Ahmadi Industrial, Bnaid Al-Qar and Sharq Industrial before inspecting the identities of around 900 people, the Interior Ministry said in a statement. Police arrested 232 people including those with expired residency visas who were sent for deportation, fugitives wanted on criminal charges and absconding cases who were taken to the proper authorities for further action, among others.
School fire
A school in Qaser was on fire, so Jahra fire station men responded. Power to the school was cut and the fire was put out successfully. No injuries were reported in the incident. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the blaze.
Awareness campaign
Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) launched its awareness campaign 'Nabeek Salem' (We Want You to be Safe) in cooperation with EQUATE petrochemicals company. The campaign was launched at The Avenues mall in the presence of Director of Public Relations and Information Brig Khalil Al-Ameer. The campaign included an exhibition by several sectors and departments in order to educate people about fire dangers, reasons and prevention. The Little Fireman magazine will also be distributed to educate children.
