One killed, three injured in crash

KUWAIT: Kuwait Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received on Tuesday Head of Regional Mission of the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) Mamadou Sow to discuss the latest developments in the Palestinian territories and the Gaza Strip. During the meeting, the Foreign Minister stressed the ICRC’s role and noble humanitarian efforts, especially regarding the delivery of humanitarian, medical, and relief aid to those in need, emphasizing the need to stop the ongoing escalation in Palestine, occupied territories, and the Gaza Strip.

The minister also underlined the need to protect civilians, ensure the opening of crossings to deliver humanitarian and relief supplies to the people of Gaza, and mobilize international efforts in this context, a statement by the Foreign Ministry said. For his part, Mamadou Sow presented a review of the efforts made by the ICRC within the framework of the planned immediate humanitarian response and the urgent needs of the people of Gaza.

He expressed his deep appreciation for the pioneering and distinguished humanitarian role played by Kuwait in supporting the afflicted and affected peoples and lauded the continuous Kuwaiti support offered to the organization and its humanitarian activities around the world. The meeting also discussed the close cooperation relations between Kuwait and the International Committee of the Red Cross, their future prospects, and ways of strengthening international humanitarian action and supporting joint activities in response to humanitarian crises and disasters in the region. — KUNA
