KUWAIT: Kuwaiti astronomer Adel Al-Saadoun said on Wednesday that the comet, C/2022 E3 (ZTF), will approach the Earth and is forecast to be seen on February 1. He told KUNA that people will be able to view it with the naked eye - the first comet to be seen without equipment for the first time in two decades.

The bright green comet will pass by Earth for the first time in 50,000 years and will first pass by the Sun, arriving from the outer parts of the solar system, which is why it's taken thousands of years to return. The comet, discovered by the Zwicky Transient Facility on March 2, 2022, will reach its perihelion on January 12, 2023. - KUNA
