CAPITALS: The Sultanate of Oman welcomed on Friday Kuwait's statement on the "positive outcomes" of the reconciliation efforts on the Gulf crisis that were previously led by the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. Oman has welcomed the efforts made also by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and US President Donald Trump, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported. These efforts mirror keenness of all parties on the Arab and Gulf solidarity and stability, with the aim of reaching a final deal that achieves the permanent solidarity amongst all countries to make growth and prosperity to the region's nations, it said.
Jordan welcomed the statement by Kuwait's Foreign Minister, which it said was imperative for enhancing the Gulf stability and the Arab comprehensive security to face the common challenges. Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Al-Safadi stressed the importance of this step in meeting the aspirations of peoples of the Arabian Gulf regarding growth and prosperity .He commended the "big efforts" made by the late Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to put an end to the crisis and achieve the Gulf solidarity which is a main pillar to achieve the Arab solidarity and activate mechanisms of the joint action.
He lauded keenness of all Arab brothers on bolstering the Gulf and Arab solidarity and stability by reaching a final deal that strengthens solidarity and guarantees achieving the best for the Arabian Gulf states and their peoples. He noted that ending the dispute and reaching reconciliation are a "common Gulf and Arab interest," affirming that the security and stability of the Arabian Gulf is a basic pillar of the Arab security and stability. Safadi also extolled the US efforts made to end the Gulf crisis.
The Lebanese foreign ministry has meanwhile hailed Kuwait's efforts and role in resolving issues between the Gulf states and achieving reconciliation. In a statement yesterday, the ministry said it is pleased with the recent development in the Gulf reconciliation talks and expressed appreciation for the efforts of Kuwaiti Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah on the matter.
Meanwhile, the United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres has lauded Kuwait's mediation efforts to narrow differences among Gulf countries. "The Secretary-General welcomes the efforts and contributions of Kuwait in building bridges of understanding in the Gulf region and beyond," Spokesman for the Secretary-General Stephane Dujarric said in a press statement Friday.
He added that the UN chief is encouraged by the statement by the Foreign Minister of Kuwait and other reports that the Gulf rift is close to a resolution. Gutteres also expressed hope that all countries involved in the dispute will work together to formally resolve their differences. He stressed the importance of Gulf unity for regional peace, security and development. - KUNA
