KUWAIT: On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the North Korean Embassy held a reception on Monday at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. During his opening remarks, Ambassador Ju Myong Chol praised the relationship between the two countries. “Friendship and cooperation between Korea and Kuwait have historical depth and great potential for development and expansion for the better,” he said.
Chol said Kuwait has provided Korea with humanitarian aid when it was struck by natural disasters, in addition to loans through the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development for development projects in his country, praising the humanitarian policy of Kuwait and efforts made to achieve social and national cohesion, diversify the economy and improve the standard of living of the people.
“We also appreciate the distinguished role played by Kuwait in supporting and strengthening joint Arab action, and in consolidating the foundations of maintaining security and peace at the regional and international levels under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah,” he said.
Chol stressed his country’s keenness to exert every effort to develop and strengthen friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries at various levels in a way that serves the interests of the peoples of both countries. The ambassador said that the founding of the Republic of Korea was the birth of an independent and popular nation for the first time in the history of the Korean nation, and it was a major event that opened a new beginning for building a strong nation.
“The great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung founded the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on September 9, 1945, and built a mass-centered socialist state. He resolutely defended the dignity and sovereignty of the country at a time when our republic was going through the most severe ordeal by crushing the maneuvers of the allied forces of imperialism aimed at strangling our republic,” Chol said.
