KUWAIT: The cabinet made the decision to suspend the national manpower support allowance given to some citizens working in the private sector with the aim of protecting public funds, the Manpower and Government Restructuring Program 's (MGRP) Secretary General Fauzi Al-Majdali said. He was referring to recent incidents in which citizens were not paid their allowances and were told that they had to update their information in the MGRP database; something that they never had to do in previous years. Majdali added that recipients had to meet social security conditions and update their information to receive the allowance as per decision number 391/2001 pertaining with periodic data update. The new condition seems to be an attempt from the government to identify cases in which citizens receive allowances unlawfully and suspend them.
