KUWAIT: The Ministry of Health, represented by the Blood Transfusion Services Department, announced the launch of the annual blood donation campaign (Together Forever Marching for the Homeland 8) on Wednesday, coinciding with the 33rd anniversary of the brutal Iraqi invasion of the State of Kuwait under the patronage of the Minister of Health, Dr Ahmad Al-Awadhi.

The Medical Director of the Blood Transfusion Services Department, Dr Hanan Al-Awadhi, said on Monday: “The campaign will be launched at the Central Blood Bank in Jabriya and in all donation centers of the department from 8 am to 8 pm. Souvenirs will be distributed to donors.” The campaign comes for the eighth consecutive year within the framework of cooperation between the ministry represented by the Central Blood Bank and the participation of social responsibility authorities, civil society institutions and the government sector, as well as the military corps in its various bodies — the army, police, national guard and Kuwait fire force.

The participation, said Awadhi, stems from their belief in the importance of donation and based on their national role and humanitarian duty. The partnership comes to consolidate the concept of humanitarian and volunteer work, promote social solidarity and spread the culture of volunteering, she added, pointing out that “previous campaigns witnessed a large turnout of donors.” She called on citizens and residents to express their love for Kuwait and participate in this national occasion by donating blood and to commemorate of the heroism of the righteous martyrs. - KUNA
