KUWAIT: The Kuwait shooting team returned home after participating in the 9th Asian Clay Target Tournament in Almati, Kazakhstan where they won 2 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals. Kuwait Olympic Committee Member Sheikh Mubarak Faisal Al-Nawaf Al-Sabah said the committee gives full support to all sports federations to elevate sports activities in Kuwait and make achievements locally and abroad.

He said achievement of Kuwait's shooters are important milestones Kuwait shooting at the continental level, adding that this due to shooters and Kuwait shooting federation officials' efforts. Public Authority for Sports Deputy Director General for competitive sports Dr Saqer Al-Mulla lauded the shooters achievement during the Asian tournament adding that Kuwait shooting has many talented shooters. He said there will be special support and care for Olympic shooters in cooperation with Kuwait Olympic Committee for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Kuwait and Arab Shooting Federations President Eng Duaij Al-Otaibi said the appearance of young talent among Kuwait shooters and them achieving distinguished results, is one of its important gains, as they are considered the future of this sport.

He said the focus will next be on preparing Kuwait national team for the 14 Asian comprehensive tournament to be held in Qatar in November. Kuwait shooters are seeking even more qualifications after Abdelrahman Al-Faihan and Mansour Al-Rashidi have already qualified. Gold medalist in the trap event Nasser Al-Miqled said he is proud to win the individuals gold and the teams silver medals.

He said competition was very strong as many prominent Asian shooters were present, adding that despite his recent return to the sport, he was able to match the world record during the finals. Kuwait's winnings were through shooters Sarah Al-Hawal who won the gold women trap, while the trap team of Nasser Al-Moqled, Khalid Al-Mudhaf and Abdelrahman Al-Faihan won the silver medal in the teams trap. Jarrah Al-Shuwaier won the double trap silver, as Abdallah Al-Torqi, Mansour Al-Rashidi and Abdelaziz Al-Saad won the teams skeet bronze, and the juniors trap team of Salah Al-Rashidi, Yousuf Al-Rashidi and Bader Al-Adwani won the bronze medal.
