Massive haul of Captagon, shabu, hashish seized

KUWAIT: The interior ministry announced Sunday that 1.2 million Captagon pills, 250 kgs of hashish and 104 kg of shabu were seized after some persons attempted to smuggle them into the country. First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and Acting Minister of Defense Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah supervised the inspection of the seized narcotic substances, the ministry’s security media and public relations department said in a statement.

The statement quoted Sheikh Talal as confirming that attempts to engulf the country with these devastating substances are professionally run, stressing “we must exert more efforts and stand firmly in the face of this danger”. The minister affirmed that the ministry and its field and awareness sectors continue, in cooperation with state institutions, to confront this scourge and harness all potentials in the face of all smuggling and dealing attempts that seek to undermine the country’s youth.

Sheikh Talal thanked and appreciated the efforts made by the General Administration for Drugs Control and the General Administration of the Coast Guard in directing firmly and decisively successive strikes against smugglers and promoters of narcotic substances. The drugs control department, in cooperation and coordination with the coastguard, seized around 250 kgs of hashish after two people attempted to smuggle them into the country by sea, according to the statement. – KUNA
