KUWAIT: In other news, the Public Authority for Manpower revealed a mechanism for sponsors on how to deal with cases of absconding domestic helpers, according to a report published in Al-Anbaa Arabic daily yesterday. The authority said steps of this mechanism start with an absconding report filed at an interior ministry service center, then going to the manpower authority to file a complaint for not shouldering the price of airline tickets in case the helper is arrested and demanding compensation for not serving out the contract.

The authority said in case the helper does not complete six months from the date of arriving, the office will be compelled to reimburse the sponsor in full and pay for the airline ticket. In case the sponsorship period is completed, the complaint will be sent to courts to issue a ruling to not bear the price of the airline ticket and decide the means of compensation.
