Candidates Speak: Interview with Ali Al Ali

KUWAIT:  Systematic power cuts could take place if needed, Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy announced Thursday. The potential power cuts would start from 11:00 am to 05:00 pm for 1-2 hours, as the ministry’s social media platforms will announce the timings per area an hour before, said a ministry statement.

Some parts of Kuwait were left without electricity on Wednesday as a power outage exacerbated the scorching summer conditions, while emergency teams were hard at work to restore power to affected areas. The ministry blamed soaring temperatures, which have skyrocketed to some 52 degrees Celsius, for the power cuts, calling on the public to limit consumption during peak hours in order to ensure uninterrupted supply. — KUNA
