KUWAIT: His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah received yesterday at Bayan Palace several outgoing foreign ambassadors. His Highness the Premier met separately with the Ambassador of Vietnam Trinh Minh Manh, Ambassador of Brazil Norton Rapesta and Ambassador of Libya Sulaiman Al-Sahili. Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab Affairs Fahad Al-Awadhi attended the meeting.
In other news, Sudan's Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok appreciated the diplomatic role assumed by Kuwait in lifting his country from the US list of alleged state terrorism sponsors. In late October, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order to remove Sudan from the list it had occupied since 1993. Prime Minister Hamdok made the comments during a telephone conversation with his Kuwaiti counterpart, according to a statement released by his office on Tuesday.
The two officials reviewed bilateral relations, with Hamdok briefing his counterpart on the situation in Sudan and the government's steps to maneuver a transitional period in the wake of many challenges. He recalled the signing of the Juba Peace Agreement, between the government and Sudanese opposition groups, as well as Sudan's removal from the US Sponsors of State Terrorism list, "expressing his appreciation for the diplomatic role played by Kuwait," read the statement. - KUNA
