Kuwait: Kuwait's Winter Games Club announced the nomination of its chief Fhaid Al-Ajmi for induction into the International Ice Hockey Federation's (IIHF) Hall of Fame, the body said on Sunday.

Al-Ajmi's nomination is a "token of appreciation" for his efforts to propel the sport of ice hockey to greater levels, the club said in a statement, citing his "long-standing" role as the sport's chief organizer in the wider Arabian Gulf region.

The Kuwaiti official's nomination for a spot in the IIHF Hall of Fame, based in Lausanne, Switzerland, is a "source of pride" for the club, added the statement.

If inducted, Al-Ajmi will become the first Arab to have garnered such an accolade, it said.
