ALGIERS: Yaqoub Al-Yoha and Issa Al-Zankawi each won silver medals for Kuwait in men’s athletics with Madhawi Al-Shemmeri - clinching a bronze in women’s athletics on day one of the Pan Arab Games in Algeria’s coastal city of Oran. Al-Youha, in the 110m hurdles race, was locked in fierce competition with Amine Bouanani, only losing out to the Algerian in the final third.
Kuwaitis maintained a decent showing as Al-Zankawi won the country’s second silver in the men’s discus throw with Madhawi Al-Shammari taking home a bronze in the women’s 100m sprint. A total 32 men and women are competing in the 15th edition of the regional competition, across six different sports. - KUNA
