KUWAIT: A Kuwaiti serviceman died and others were wounded when a coast guard boat capsized while leaving Sabbiya Coast Guard Station on Friday, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement. The boat capsized while it was leaving Subbiya Station resulting in the death of Abdullah Al-Failakawi, it added. The marine rescue and coast guard personnel rushed to the boat and recovered 10 injured crew members. The wounded were rushed to Sabbiya center for treatment, the ministry said, adding that an investigation was underway to know reasons of the accident.
Drugs found
Drug Control General Department (DCGD) arrested an unidentified person with large amounts of narcotics he brought to the country, the Interior Ministry announced on Thursday. The person had 19 kilograms of methamphetamine and half a million 'Captagon' narcotic pills at the time of arrest, the ministry's General Department of Public Relations and Security Media added in a press statement. Secret information obtained by the DCGD revealed that this person brought drugs to the country for trafficking, the statement noted. The narcotics are evaluated at more than half a million Kuwaiti Dinars (more than $1.6 million), it concluded.
Fire hurt in accident
Five people were injured when a vehicle caught fire in Wafra. Firefighters from Mina Abdullah fire station responded to an emergency call and handled the case. The injured persons were rescued and handed to medics. Meanwhile, three fire stations fought a blaze in makeshift cabins belonging to a company doing maintenance work at Ibn Sina Hospital. Shuwaikh and Sulaibkhat along with backup fire stations contained the fire and kept it from spreading. No injuries were reported.
Rumors denied
The relations and security information department at the interior ministry denied rumors on social media that the son of a high-ranking officer was arrested along with girls who were all under the influence.
Inspection tour
Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) Director Lt Gen Khalid Rakan Al-Mikrad held an inspection tour of fire stations to check their readiness. He began his tour from the backup center, then went to Industrial Shuwaikh, Capital and Shuhada fire stations.
