KUWAIT: The Assistant Foreign Minister for Development and International Cooperation, Ambassador Hamad Al-Mashaan met on Sunday with Richard Malanjum, Ombudsman of the UN Sanctions Committee against the Islamic State.
In a press statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said that meetings with Richard Malanjum, who has been appointed as the new Ombudsperson for the UN Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and Al-Qaeda Sanctions Committee, will include discussions about the five citizens and illegal residents whose names are on the international wanted list, under the UN Security Council (UNSC) resolutions with efforts from the ministry. hese meetings come as a culmination of a series of interviews with members of the committee of the Ombudsman and representatives of his office which will continue till next Thursday, so that names of the wanted people can be erased from the UN lists after approval and then put to UNSC for a vote, the statement added.
The committee prepared letters on behalf of the foreign affairs minister and addressed them to the ministers of permanent and non-permanent members of the UNSC which also includes Kuwait's efforts to remove the names of its citizens from the UN lists. - KUNA
