RABAT: Kuwaiti athlete Essa Al-Zenkawi has grabbed the gold medal of the discus-throwing contest in the Arab Athletics Championship, which concluded in the Moroccan city of Marrakesh Saturday. Kuwaiti champion Al-Zenkawi scored 59 meters and 20 centimeters, ahead of the Qatari thrower Moaz Ibrahim, who scored 59 meters, 11 centimeters, and Egyptian Shehab Abdelaziz who scored 57 meters and one centimeter.

This is the second gold for Kuwait in the championship after the one won by runner Yaqoub AlYouha in the 110-meter hurdles competition. Kuwaiti athletes Abdulrahman Al-Azmi and Madhawi Al-Shammari won one silver medal each in the javelin throw and the 200-meter running race competitions respectively. 16 Arab countries, including Kuwait, participated in the Arab Championship which was held in Marrakesh during the period from 20-24 June. - KUNA
