KUWAIT: Kuwait's Ministry of Health encouraged people aged over 50 and those aged between 12 and 50 years and have weakened immune systems to take a second booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Those eligible can take their second booster at the Kuwait Vaccination Center in Mishref four months after taking the first dose, the ministry said in a statement on Sunday. "A second booster shot is important to boost immunity for certain groups of society, including the immunocompromised and people vulnerable to extreme sickness in case of infection," the ministry explained. It mentioned cancer patients under chemotherapy, organ transplant patients who take medicines that cause immunity suppression and people who take high doses of cortisone as examples for those who should take a second booster of the vaccine. The ministry reiterated the need for people aged five years and older to fully vaccinate against COVID-19, and people over the age of 12 to take a booster shot (not less than four months after taking the first two doses).
