DOHA: Acting Director General of the Environment Public Authority and Commissioner General for Kuwait's participation in ‘Expo 2023 Doha’ for horticulture, Samira Al-Kandari, announced on Sunday the signing of a contract for the implementation and operation of Kuwait's pavilion at the exhibition hosted by the Qatari capital Doha next month. In a statement after signing the contract, Al-Kandari stressed Kuwait’s keenness to participate in this occasion due to the importance of the topic raised by the organizing committee.

She said: "The Doha Horticultural Expo is a great opportunity to learn about the experiences of countries in combating desertification and the efforts of those interested in the environment and agriculture, benefit from their experiences, and learn about the latest technology in this field, which helps in addressing the problem of desertification and reaching the desired sustainability."

She pointed to the tireless work in preparing the Kuwaiti pavilion to reach a distinguished and effective participation that conveys the efforts of Kuwait in horticulture in general and the issue of combating desertification in particular, through the multiple contents of the pavilion and highlighting a number of concerned projects and specialized workshops.

She stressed the authority's keenness on spreading awareness in various fields of the environment and the delivery of correct messages based on scientific facts to the public, young people, and future generations by organizing events inside the pavilion. The (Expo Doha 2023) exhibition for horticulture will start on the second of October and continue until March 2024, in which a number of countries in the world will participate. The exhibition will be held in Al-Bidda Park on an area of 1.7 million square meters. It is expected that about three million visitors from different countries around the world will attend.- KUNA
