KUWAIT: Kuwait shooters were outstanding in the trap event and snatched the teams trap gold medal on the seventh day of the 8th Asian Shotgun and 11th Asian Shotgun Championships being held at Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex, which also Kuwait win another silver medal.
The team of Talal Al-Rashidi, Khalid Al-Mudhaf and Abdelrahman Al-Faihan scored 354 hits followed by Kazakhstan with 345 in second place and the silver medal and Chinese Taipie scored 338 giving them the bronze medal. In the individual event China's Yu Do won gold and his compatriot Wei Dong won silver and Kazakh Victor Khasyanov won bronze.
The juniors silver medal went to Kuwait's Yousuf Al-Mutairi, Bader Al-Adwani and Salah Al-Rashidi, while Kazakhstan won gold, with this result China tops the medals table with (22 gold, 14 silver, 10 bronze), followed by India (5 gold, 5 silver, 2 bronze), Kazakhstan (4 gold, 6 silver, 5 bronze), Kuwait (2 gold, 4 silver, 2 bronze), Thailand (2 gold), Singapore (4 silver, 3 bronze), Chinese Taipie (1 silver, 6 bronze), UAE (1 silver, 1 bronze), Japan, Qatar and Bahrain one bronze each.
Kuwaiti shooter Al-Faihan said he was happy to win gold with his team mates which was very tough due to the strength of other shooters headed by China and Kazakhstan. Al-Faihan who qualified for the Tokyo Olympics said such tournaments provide more experience adding that he will work hard and participate in most important international championships to be ready for Tokyo 2020. Jordan's shooters Fuad Madhi said the Jordan team is a new one and just began participating in international tournaments as the national team was formed seven months ago.
He said the organization of the tournament in Kuwait gave participants comfort and wished all Arabs success in their participation.
