BERLIN: Kuwaiti athletes have added eight medals to their tally in the Special Olympics World Games currently held in Berlin. Athletes Zainab Al-Durai and Bu Rabaa won gold medals in bowling and badminton competitions respectively. Taif Al-Enezi snatched four medals: three silver and one bronze, in the weightlifting contest. Rider Basma Al-Busaili obtained silver medal in the equestrian game and a four-member Kuwaiti team won a silver medal in athletics competition.

With today’s medals, the Kuwaiti tally since the start of the event climbed to 19 medals: 6 gold, 10 silver and 3 bronze. Special Olympics Guest of honor Sheikha Suhaila Al-Sabah said the achievement of the disabled is “our pride,” adding that despite the strong competition by participating teams, Kuwait’s athletes were able to win and remain in top places that received appreciation from all. - KUNA
