KUWAIT: Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity signed an agreement with Saudi Arabia’s Aanab forum to launch a program on professional development for teachers in Kuwait, in cooperation with Harvard University's Graduate School of Education. The program will provide training courses in Arabic, said the center's director general Neda Al-Dihani in a press conference on Wednesday. Harvard's professional education department serves over 16,000 education specialists around the world and helps prepare leaders in the field of education, he noted.

The Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity was launched in 2010 to discover and sponsor talented and creative Kuwaitis and help inventors to develop their ideas and register their innovations. Aanab is a licensed digital educational platform that provides specialized training courses and professional qualifications for teachers and educators, provided by educational institutions in addition to distinguished academics and teachers, according to Aanab’s website.

Neda Al-Dihani and Muneera Jamjoum exchange copies of the agreement.

Cooperating with Aanab is a great opportunity to develop teachers’ skills in Kuwait, using the best and most up-to-date standards, which will also have a positive impact on students, said Dihani. The collaboration will also contribute to achieving the common goal of enhancing the culture of creativity and modern technology in Kuwaiti society and the development of the educational system.

Aanab's CEO Dr Muneera Jamjoum said her organization believes that teachers have a huge effect on improving the performance of students. She said the agreement includes two programs, one is titled "flexible thinking" and the second is "levels of aid". The two programs will provide training to 100 Kuwaiti teachers. The two sides will announce the requirements needed to join the programs at a later date. They will also study the outcome of the programs and their impact on teachers' skills once the programs have concluded. – KUNA
