KUWAIT: The National Assembly during its regular session on Tuesday approved a number of letters addressed by chiefs of commissions to tackle a long list of issues such as combating corruption and relevant files.
One letter was addressed by the Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs, Minister of State for Housing Affairs and Urban Development Ammar Al-Ajmi, requesting rapid examination of bills on amending the penal code and the conflict of interest topic, due to their relation to boosting integrity, transparency and combating corruption -- enlisted in the tasks of the parliamentary committee of legislative, legal and parliamentary affairs.
The MPs approved a letter filed by the MP Dr. Hassan Johar requesting that the committee of protecting public funds be tasked with examining the cases of social security, the army fund, the Malaysian fund, the millions' deposits, external remittances, military deals of the Eurofighters and Caracals, in addition to a number of other cases related to corruption, money laundering, along with referring the documents forwarded to the assembly in the past to the relevant commission.
They also blessed a letter from the head of the committee of the handicapped MP Saleh Ashour asking referral of the bill for amending the Law 8/2010 regarding rights of the disabled to the commission of the handicapped affairs. They also approved a letter from the head of the financial and economic affairs committee MP Shuaib Al-Muwaizri requesting rejection of reports on imports and government bonds.
The other letters blessed by the MPs in today's session were related to preserving the oil wealth, expanding oil industries, economic diversification, increasing state financial proceeds, creating jobs for citizens, foreign investments in the oil sector, encouraging investments in renewable and alternative energies Moreover, the assembly agreed to examining MPs letters requesting the tackling of other issues such as renovating and maintaining roads, preserving national heritage sites, public cleaning, utilities in new residential areas, causes of the rising payments for construction workers, pollution, environmental rehabilitation, a project to build a station for producing renewable energy and reforms in the educational sector.
