KUALA LUMPUR: The Kuwaiti karate team won two silver and one bronze medals at the end of the Asian Karate Championship held in Malaysia, bringing the total medals bagged by the national team in the tournament to four, two of which are silver and two bronze. Vice President of the Kuwait Karate Federation Ahmed Al-Dhafiri said in a statement to KUNA that the team achieved on the last day of the championship second place in collective kata, where the team was represented by Mohammed Al-Mousawi, Salman Al-Mousawi and Mohammed Hussein.

Dhafiri added the team achieved third place in the collective kumite competition. The team was represented by Abdullah Shaaban, Omar Al-Qenaei, Youssef Hajia, Fahd Al-Ajmi, Sultan Al-Mutairi, Ahmed Al-Mesfer and Mohammed Al-Majadi. He pointed out the Asian Karate Federation presented the award for the best referee for the West Asian region to Kuwaiti international referee Ahmed Bastaki, part of honoring five referees at the Asian level, expressing his happiness with the good performance of the Kuwaiti team in the competitions of this Asian championship. – KUNA
