Kuwait: Response to challenges pertinent to genetic diseases requires collective cooperation and teamwork among specialists, said a Kuwaiti health official on Tuesday.
Dr. Noufa Al-Shemmari made the remark in a keynote speech during the Medical Genetics Conference in Kuwait between 11-13 October, organized by the Kuwait Medical Genetic Centre (KMGC).
Representing the health minister, who is the patron of the three-day medical conference, Al-Shemmari highly commended the KMGC's role in addressing challenges posed by genetic diseases in Kuwait.
The international event is vivid evidence of the KMGC's farsightedness and scientific planning for fighting genetic diseases, she said, speaking highly of the special care given by the center's staff to patients.
For her part, Dr. Laila Bastaki, the Conference President and Director of the Kuwait Medical Genetic Centre (KMGC), said the center, since its inception, has provided services to more than 50,000 families in the field of fighting genetic diseases, based on prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
The conference brings the best and most distinguished medical professionals together and connect the international and regional community, aiming to discuss the most up-to-date scientific discoveries and practices in the field of medical genetics.
The event is an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience with other members of the genetics, medical and bioinformatics communities.
