KUWAIT: Kuwait's Army Chief of the General Staff Lieut-General Khaled Saleh Al-Sabah and UK Minister of the Armed Forces James Heappey held a meeting on Thursday, discussing military cooperation. The Defense Ministry said in a statement that British Ambassador to Kuwait Belinda Lewis was present at the meeting.
Also, Foreign Minister Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on Thursday met with visiting UK Minister of the Armed Forces and Member of Parliament James Heappey on the latest regional and international developments. The Kuwaiti foreign minister reiterated Kuwait's stance that backs the resolution of crises by peaceful means and negotiations, underlining the necessity of supporting international de-escalation efforts to find a peaceful solution based on international law and respect of countries' sovereignty.
For his part, the UK guest appreciated Kuwait's efforts to maintain regional and international peace and security, reaffirming UK commitment to safeguarding Kuwait's security and regional security and stability. Heappey voiced much thanks and gratitude to Kuwait's leadership, government and people for hosting British armed forces. Also during the meeting, they discussed historical relations and firm friendship between Kuwait and the UK, in addition to various fields of cooperation to promote the shared interests of both countries and their friendly peoples, looking forward to a Joint Steering Group meeting due early next year. - KUNA
