KUWAIT: Kuwait's COVID-19 confirmed infection cases reached 90,387 after 805 people tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health said yesterday. Meanwhile two persons died of COVID-19 in the same period, raising total deaths to 546, Ministry spokesman Dr Abdullah Al-Sanad announced. The ministry had announced earlier that 516 people have recovered from the virus, increasing the number of total recoveries to 81,037.
The new infected cases include people who have come into contact with infected individuals, and others whose source of infection is currently being investigated, Dr Sanad said. In terms of health zones, 221 cases were reported in Hawally, 201 in Ahmadi, 155 in Farwaniya, 135 in the Capital, and 93 in Jahra, added the official.
There are 90 patients currently receiving intensive care out of a total 8,804 currently hospitalized, Dr Sanad said. Some 4,324 swab tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, raising the total to 648,051 so far, added the spokesman. The official reiterated the strict need to abide by health precautions, urging nationals and expatriates alike that following social distancing rules is the only way to keep the virus at bay. - KUNA
