Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) workers hand out food aid to Hadhramaut Governorate of the Republic of Yemen.

KUWAIT: Kuwaitcontinued its humanitarian aid for the people in need in different parts of theworld, and most specifically during Muslims' holy month of Ramadan. LastSaturday, Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) handed out food aid to HadhramautGovernorate of the Republic of Yemen, which included Seiyun, Tarim, Al-Qat, AsSawm and Sah districts to ease the suffering on families, and marking theadvent of Ramadan.

Director-Generalof the KRCS Abdulrahman Al-Oun said that this project targets 1,033 familieswith a total of 7,231 displaced and needy beneficiaries from the Yemeni peoplein cooperation with the Humanitarian Response Network (HRN). Oun expressedgratitude to all donors and Kuwaiti efforts that contributed to alleviating thesuffer of Yemeni people, praising the efforts of HRN in delivering the aid withthe cooperation of KRCS volunteers. He pointed out the importance of activatingall relief, institutional and individual efforts to help Yemeni people and shedlight on the humanitarian situation by providing the necessary humanitarianneeds.

Kuwait'sAmbassador to Malaysia Saad Al-Asousi launched the Ramadan iftar campaign forthe Muslims in the Asian country. Asousi said the campaign, funded by Kuwaitiphilanthropists, provided more than 11,000 meals throughout Ramadan. He saidKuwait Embassy was distributing meals to Islamic Centers, senior citizens' carehouses, mosques, universities, Quran centers and Orphanages.KRCS was alsoproviding aid locally, ranging from health care to iftar meals. MaryamAl-Adsani, Director of Local Aid Department, said KRCS was offering eye testsand dental care for families in need, as well as distributing 2,670 meals on5,000 families.

Meanwhile, KuwaitAmbassador to Ghana Mohammad Al-Failakawi handed over Thursday $117,103 chequeto the organization of education and development in the African country. KuwaitConsulate in Irbil, Iraq, launched today a campaign to provide Iftar meals foraround 6,000 people for 10 days. Kuwait Consul Dr Omar Al-Kandari said thecampaign was in compliance with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-AhmadAl-Jaber Al-Sabah's instructions to help the Iraqi people. The campaign, headded, has been implemented in Irbil in collaboration with local partners.

Ismail Abdulaziz,director of aid at Barzani humanitarian institute, said the campaign wouldprovide meals for people in need, workers and university students. Kuwait'sConsulate supervised distribution of food presented by Kuwait-basedInternational Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO) to 17,300 people in campsfor the Internally Displaced persons (IDPs). Kandari said the food supplieswere distributed in camps of Hassan Sham and Kharez West of Irbil. IICOPresident Dr Abdullah Al-Maatouq visited the camps recently to get acquaintedfirst-hand of needs of IDPs. - KUNA
