KUWAIT: The Ministry of Health said it vaccinated workers at cooperative societies and adjacent shops in the Governorate of Hawally. Ministry spokesman Dr Abdullah Al-Sanad, in a statement on Tuesday, said health care workers also inoculated against COVID-19 workers of cooperative societies in the areas of Yarmouk, Khaldiya, Adailiya, Fahaheel, Reqqa, Jaber Al-Ali and Mangaf. He added the ministry also vaccinated workers at mosques nationwide.

The ministry, he said, would continue vaccinations of all workers in cooperative societies as well as service centers in residential areas. Teams have been visiting residential areas to vaccinate workers of shops, cooperative societies and mosques. Meanwhile, Al-Qabas Arabic daily had reported yesterday that 18 percent of Kuwait's population have successfully been vaccinated as of Tuesday, according to health ministry sources, as Kuwait's vaccination drive continues steadily throughout the holy month of Ramadan.

Kuwait had said Tuesday that seven persons died of coronavirus in the past 24 hours while 1,544 people tested positive for COVID-19. Dr Sanad said total deaths rose to 1,419 and registered infections surged to 250,273 as of Tuesday. He added that 1,201 people recovered from the virus since during the same period to reach a total of 233,757. He said recovery-to-infection ratio was 93.4 percent.

Dr Sanad said 235 COVID-19 patients were in the intensive care units, while total patients receiving health care was 15,097 as of Tuesday. Dr Sanad added that infections-to-swab ratio was 16.7 percent. He called on the public anew to abide by health regulations including physical distancing and avoiding crowded areas. - KUNA
