KUWAIT: Kuwait Foreign Minister Sheikh Salem Al-Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah met Monday visiting Canadian Minister of International Development Harjit Sajjan and his accompanying delegation. During the meeting, the two sides discussed means of enhancing and activating bilateral partnership in several development fields, mainly humanitarian, with the aim of backing humanitarian situations across the globe. The two sides further covered the latest regional and international developments, and their bilateral coordination. The Kuwaiti minister lauded advanced and prosperous cooperation between Kuwait and Canada on all levels.
Meanwhile, Sajjan said he looks forward to continuing deep-rooted cooperation between the two friendly countries in all domains. He commended wisdom of Kuwait and its balanced foreign policy as well as efforts to cement pillars of preserving peace and security in the region. Sajjan voiced appreciation to Kuwait's efforts, relentless endeavors, humanitarian projects and support for development and peoples all over the world. He also referred to the honoring of Kuwait as a center for humanitarian action and its late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as a humanitarian leader.
After the gathering, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to boost cooperation between the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development and Canada's Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD) to finance economic and social development in the developing countries. The memo also covers bilateral coordination on response to humanitarian crises and natural disasters, and technical expertise and information sharing, which show determination of the two countries on developing bilateral ties and boosting them in all fields and on all levels. - KUNA
