CAIRO: The State of Kuwait has won 11 prizes out of 86 at the end of Cairo Artworks and Media Mondial that kicked off on October 10, coming in the second place after Egypt in terms of the number of prizes. Mohammad Ramadan Al-Rowashda, head of the Mondial’s arbitration committee, announced that at least 350 artworks from 18 Arab countries participated in the event. He said that Kuwait took part in the mondial with 56 artworks winning the first place in terms of the number of artworks followed by Egypt.
Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information’s Assistant Undersecretary for Radio Affairs Sheikh Fahad Al-Mubarak Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah lauded the valuable prizes granted to Kuwait. “This success is the fruit of the massive efforts exerted by the ministry’s staff,” he told KUNA in a statement yesterday, noting that the next year will witness more artworks of Kuwait. Sheikh Fahad Al-Mubarak revealed that there will be joint Egyptian-Kuwaiti artworks during the upcoming period and preparations will be underway for this move.
In a similar statement to KUNA, Mohammad Al-Mesry, director of the program department of the Kuwait TV, congratulated Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al- Humoud Al-Sabah and all senior officials of Ministry of Information on this success. He expressed his satisfaction with winning a big number of varied prizes, hoping for further participations from TV and Radio staff in upcoming events. He said that Kuwait will take part in the festivals in Bahrain and Tunisia. A number of artists were honored during the mondial that ran until October 14. —KUNA
