KUWAIT: The Kuwaiti Al-Sadu Craft Society celebrated on Tuesday, the 30th anniversary of its founding, by holding an exhibition (The Outfit) for design and innovation in Bait Al-Badr. The President of the Society, Sheikha Bibi Duaij Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah, said they celebrate 30 years of supporting culture, crafts and creativity, and this support continues through three exhibitions of distinguished and creative people in Kuwait in the field of costume, jewelry and industry.
Sheikha Bibi Al-Sabah added that this occasion "represents thirty years of work in preserving the traditions of weaving and transferring them towards modern future horizons that will enrich the local cultural identity and contemporary creative artistic development".
She praised the experience of the 30 years of perseverance in refining these artistic methods and manual skills and passing them on to the young and future generations within serious educational plans and programs while preserving the rights of the first female craftswomen "to stimulate and honor their artistic gifts, in addition to encouraging young people to work manual craftsmanship and innovation in the field of knitting and weaving traditions.
She stressed that the previous years also witnessed perseverance in highlighting the Kuwaiti cultural heritage and introducing it locally, regionally and globally until Sadu art became on the representative list of the tangible cultural heritage at UNESCO.- KUNA
