KUWAIT: Theministerial committee for public services announced yesterday that completionratio of the new Terminal 2 project at Kuwait International Airport hascurrently reached 36 percent. According to the project's timeframe, T2 is duefor an overall completion and full operation by 2023, the committee said in apress statement following its inspection visit to the project site to checkwith latest updates and developments regarding its workflow. So far, theproject's expenses have amounted to 21.3 percent, while delay in completionremains little and has not pass 0.3 percent, it said.
It affirmed thegovernment's keenness to move on with implementing this new grand monumententirely, including phases 1, 2, and 3, in addition to operating it on its duedate, and overcoming all obstacles that could hinder its achievement. It isimportant that all state bodies in the country cooperate jointly to complete T2and other development projects on time, it noted, affirming keenness to attainHis Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's vision totransform Kuwait into financial and economic hub.
The committeealso stressed the importance of meeting all requirements to implement T2,pointing out His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-HamadAl-Sabah's directions and keen interest to keep an eye on all developmentprojects in the country. Furthermore, the statement quoted the ministers'affirmation in constantly following T2's workflow phases, holding intensifiedmeetings with state bodies' representatives in this regard, and conductinginspection visits to the project site to be closely acquainted with it. Theministers also commended the great efforts exerted by the project's mainsponsors, particularly the Ministry of Public Works and the Directorate Generalof Civil Aviation (DGCA), said the committee.
DGCA's ChairmanSheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah said meanwhile that T2 would be asubstantial addition to Kuwait International Airport and a quantum leap in theair-transport field in the country. T2 is backed directly by His Highness thePremier as one of the vital projects in Kuwait, Sheikh Salman added, noting itis part of the government's main development schemes with a capacity toaccommodate some 25 million passengers yearly. The project's building has aunique design in its exterior and interior parts, Sheikh Salman noted, addingDGCA would convey T4's success to the new passenger terminal in a record time.
He also laudedMinister of Commerce and Industry Khaled Al-Roudhan's efforts, along with otherministers, at the ministerial committee for public services in making the newpassenger terminal a top priority thru their constant attention and follow up.Furthermore, the DGCA chief commended the great efforts exerted by the staff ofpublic works ministry, notably Minister Dr Jenan Boushehri, noting theirendeavor had an apparent impact on the project's workflow and completionprogress. - KUNA
