KUWAIT: The Kuwaiti General Administration of Civil Aviation said on Sunday that air traffic at Kuwait International Airport is proceeding normally despite the fluctuations in weather conditions and the wave of fog that it is witnessing.
The Director General for Air Navigation Affairs in Civil Aviation, Engineer Imad Al-Jalawi said in a statement to KUNA that the movement of aircraft was not affected by the current weather, stressing that an emergency plan was activated to deal with this situation. The Meteorological Department had stated that the weather on Sunday was unstable and there would be an opportunity for heavy fog starting tonight until the early morning hours of Monday.
Meanwhile, the Kuwait Ports Corporation announced on Sunday the resumption of maritime traffic in the ports of Shuwaikh, Shuaiba and Doha after it was temporarily suspended on Sunday morning due to fluctuations in weather conditions.
The Corporation had announced in a press release that the navigation movement in those ports was stopped due to the low level of horizontal visibility and out of concern for the safety of maritime navigation, crews, and its port facilities.
Weather in Kuwait is forecast to remain unsteady in the coming hours with prevailing fog, thickening at night until Monday's early hours, the meteorological department said on Sunday. Amira Al-Azmi, the chief forecaster at the department, told KUNA that the country is affected extension of aerial high altitude, coupled with moderate moist winds.
Horizontal visibility is forecast at less than 1,000 meters and may ebb in some regions. The visibility is expected to improve as of Wednesday night and the heat will range between 7-10 degrees minimum and 17-20 degrees maximum. - KUNA
