RAMALLAH: Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) Chairman Dr Hilal Al-Sayer on Monday reiterated Kuwait's unyielding support to the Palestinian cause. Speaking to KUNA while concluding a two-day visit to Palestine, Sayer said Kuwait's leadership, government and people strongly back the Palestinian people, boasting that Kuwait provides them with health, relief and food aid.
He added that the visit encompassed inaugurating projects and holding meetings aimed at bolstering partnerships. Sayer said the children's intensive care unit "Mohammad Zaman Aqeel" was opened yesterday at the Kuwaiti hospital by Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas praised Kuwait's "important and pivotal" role in supporting the Palestinian people and their just cause at all levels. The Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) noted that Abbas's praise came during his reception in the city of Ramallah to the KRCS delegation. The Palestinian leader stressed the strong relations that bind the two peoples and countries. Abbas also stressed the importance of such visits in supporting the steadfastness of the Palestinian people.
Sayer thanked Abbas for the warm welcome they received and briefed them on the progress of the various projects implemented jointly with the Palestine Red Crescent. The KRCS chief thanked the Kuwaiti, Jordanian, and Palestinian Foreign Ministry as well as Kuwaiti embassies in Jordan and occupied Palestine for their efforts in easing the delegation's mission. He also extended thanks to Palestinian Red Crescent Society, and commended the projects they have executed.
In another development, Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmad Abul-Gheit expressed Sunday extreme dismay about the deteriorating situation in the occupied Palestinian Territories due to the Israeli occupation's excessive violence and escalation. This came in a press statement issued by the Arab League following Abul-Gheit's meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov in Cairo today.
During the meeting, both sides discussed Arab-Russian relations and the situation in the Arab region. Abul-Gheit also listened to a briefing from Bogdanov about Russia's view to the Syrian, Yemeni and Libyan crises and options for settlement. They also discussed the political and serious economic crises in Lebanon. - KUNA
