KUWAIT: Kuwait Medical Association has announced its assumption of the position of President of the World Medical Association (WMA) during the 74th annual meeting held in Kigali, Rwanda. This victory came after winning the elections at the previous annual meeting held in Berlin. Dr Abdullah Al-Banna, the society’s treasurer, said on Sunday that this presidency represents global recognition of Kuwait’s advanced standing in the field of medicine.
It also serves as an acknowledgment of the accomplishments of Kuwait’s healthcare sector. He further expressed gratitude to HH the Amir and HH the Crown Prince, thanking them for their unwavering support in elevating Kuwait’s reputation on the global stage. Dr Al-Banna also extended his appreciation to the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences for its consistent support in promoting the medical society’s progress in scientific areas, both domestically and internationally.
Dr Lujain Al-Qadmani, the representative of the medical association and the current session’s President of the World Medical Association, outlined the priorities for this session. They include addressing climate change, sustainable food systems, universal health coverage, the leadership role of women in the healthcare system and the application of artificial intelligence in the healthcare field. - KUNA
