KUWAIT: KuwaitInstitute for Scientific Research (KISR) and Yarmouk Health City signedyesterday a memorandum of understanding to cooperate in the field of scientificstudies and researches. The memorandum aims to contribute to enhancing thestatus of Yarmouk Health Zone as a health city approved by the World HealthOrganization.

In a pressstatement, Director General of KISR Dr Samira Omar said that the health city ofYarmouk was chosen by the organization as the first health city in Kuwaitbecause of its commitment to the application of international standardsadopted. Meanwhile, Mayor of Yarmouk Abdulaziz Al-Mishari said that thisagreement confirms the strong relationship between Yarmouk area and the institute,and enhances cooperation in scientific fields to better serve the citizens.

The agreementcomes within the framework of exchanging expertise and information, exchanginglabor with scientific and technical competence, studying the projects offered byYarmouk city and expressing opinions regarding the required standards inaddition to holding workshops in the area. On March 17, 2019, Yarmouk wasannounced as the fist healthy city in Kuwait to be recognized by World HealthOrganization (WHO), due to compliance with relevant standards. - KUNA
