KUWAIT: Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company (KIPIC) announced Tuesday completion of the vital stage of the Al-Zour refinery by introducing hydrocarbon to run its gas pipeline. This achievement came by efforts of Kuwaiti workers and various other groups in KIPIC as well as advisers and contractors of the project, said Deputy CEO of Al-Zour Refinery Khalid Al-Awadhi in a statement.
Awadi expressed gratitude to Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) for cooperation and efforts to complete operation of the gas pipeline for Al-Zour refinery. The success was due to determination of the workers in completing Al-Zour refinery despite the COVID-19 pandemic, he added. Al-Zour refinery is the largest project with a refining capacity of 615,000 barrels per day, built to refine different types of Kuwaiti crude oil.
The project is one of the main initiatives in the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), envisaged in the 2040 strategy, which aims to expand capacity by building a new oil refinery with a capacity of 615,000 barrels per day, representing 43 percent of the total refining capacity of Kuwait. - KUNA
