KUWAIT: Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and State Minister for Municipality Affairs Fahd Al-Shulaa said the Awqaf Secretariat General has donated KD 500,000 to support the "gharimeen" (those in debt and unable to pay back) campaign during the holy month of Ramadan. Shulaa said the secretariat general seeks to remove arrest warrants against 400 Kuwaitis - 300 women and 100 men - in coordination with the Takaful society for care of prisoners, which studies deserving cases and guarantees that they meet the conditions to benefit from this support. He said the campaign aims at keeping families together and prevent them from breaking apart.
Expat engineers
Deputy Director General for Planning and Administrative Development at the Manpower Public Authority Mubarak Al-Azmi said the authority held a meeting on Tuesday with representatives of Kuwait Engineers Society, Union of Engineering Offices and Consultation Houses and Kuwait Industries Union to discuss the latest developments with regards to the mechanism of approving technical skills of expat engineers in Kuwait and the tests held by the Kuwait Engineers Society.
Azmi said the authority works within a framework of coordination with concerned authorities to achieve the national policy to approve professional skills' levels in many professions, including registering engineering professions in all specialties, as this cooperation succeeded in achieving the goals the tests were made for. He said engineering and consultation offices as well as Kuwait Industries Union demanded further activation of procedures related to engineers' tests and hastening of the test process through a totally automated link between concerned parties to ease the procedures and shorten the documentation cycle.
Chairman of Kuwait Engineering Society said the society welcomes all those with ideas to improve the current mechanism to inform the society about any obstacles any engineer faces while seeking approval. He said the society carried out a deep-rooted overhaul of the computer network and software used by the society.
