KUWAIT: Japan's Ambassador to Kuwait Masato Takaoka released the following statement to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between his country and Kuwait:
"Japan and Kuwait established diplomatic relations sixty years ago and have since come a long way together. Our two countries are friends in need and friends indeed. The most unforgettable episode was ten years ago when Japan was devastated by horrible earthquakes and tsunami on March 11, 2011.
"At the time of deep despair for Japan, Kuwait came to help us with incredible support, including five million barrels of crude oil. His Highness the late Amir Sabah paid a state visit to Japan a year later to reaffirm the ties of friendship between our two countries. We will never forget the Kuwaiti kindness and generosity.
"I take this opportunity to thank the people of Kuwait once again for the warm and caring gesture to the people of Japan as the Kuwait Towers will soon be illuminated with our two countries' national flags to mark the day of March 11th."
