KUWAIT: The Embassy of Japan is pleased to announce that the government of Japan offers scholarship to those who wish to study at Japanese universities as undergraduate and research students. The Japanese Government Scholarship was established in 1954 in order to increase mutual understanding between the people of Japan and other countries, as well as to make an international contribution to the intellectual field.
All Kuwaiti citizens who meet these qualifications are eligible to apply:
- Undergraduate students: Completed 12-year school curriculum, good academic standing, born after April 2, 1996. Years of study: 5 years (including one year for studying the Japanese language) from April 2021 to March 2026. Fields of study: National sciences, social sciences and humanities.
- Research students: Completed 16 years of school education, born on or after April 2, 1986. Years of study: From September 2021 to March 2023 (might extend depending on the major category). Fields of study: Field of study majored at university or related to it.

The deadline for submitting applications is Tuesday, October 13, 2020 (for undergraduate students) and Tuesday, November 3, 2020 (for research student). Only soft copies, PDF format, and sent by email to the Embassy, will be accepted.
The application process consists of document screening, written exams, and personal interview. Applicants are advised to prepare for it by referring to the past exams.
