KUWAIT: Undersecretary of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Bader Al-Mutairi emphasized that Islamic law encourages the protection of the environment and advocates for environmentally friendly practices that align with the Islamic values of moderation and avoiding excess. These principles promote a culture of sustainability and the protection of natural resources.

Mutairi made this statement during his participation in the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) on climate change, held in Baku, Azerbaijan. According to a press release from the Ministry of Awqaf, Mutairi highlighted Kuwait’s commitment to international cooperation in addressing climate change and the country’s belief in the importance of environmental issues and the need for joint action to counter the effects of climate change.

He explained that the presence of religious leaders at the conference reflects the growing importance of finding comprehensive solutions that include social and religious dimensions to confront climate change, with the ultimate goal of protecting the environment for future generations. Mutairi also pointed out that Kuwait is making great efforts to achieve a balance between development and environmental protection in line with global sustainability goals.
