KUWAIT: The Director General of Kuwait’s Martyr Bureau Salah Al-Ofan on Thursday affirmed the office’s keenness to commemorate the martyrs of Kuwait and translate their heroism and sacrifices through events that Kuwaiti society can attend. The events, he said, are a way to express appreciation for everyone who gave his soul as a sacrifice for the homeland.
Ofan made the statement during the opening of an interactive photo exhibit held by the bureau at the Avenues Mall to commemorate the 34th anniversary of the brutal Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. He said that the exhibition aims to promote the values of loyalty and belonging among the Kuwaiti people and embody the heroism of the martyrs of the righteous Kuwait who sacrificed their lives for Kuwait since its independence in 1961. He explained that the event consists of five exhibitions that include pictures of the martyrs of Kuwait, as well as paintings and models related to the martyrs. The exhibitions are held at the Avenues Mall, 360 Mall, Al-Khiran Mall, Salhiya Complex and Al-Hamra Mall.
He added that the interactive photo exhibition at the Avenues Mall includes 30 interactive images which utilize augmented reality (AR) technology. The images embody the strength and steadfastness of the martyrs of Kuwait and their courage in defending their land. He pointed to the keenness of the political leadership in the State of Kuwait to support the Martyr Bureau by providing care to the families of the martyrs and commemorating their memory in public spaces across Kuwait. It is noteworthy that the total number of martyrs registered with the Kuwait Martyr Bureau is 1,342, including 921 martyrs who passed away in military operations, 267 martyrs who were lost in natural disasters and exceptional accidents, and 154 martyrs who died performing their military duty. — KUNA
