KUWAIT: Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr Adel Al-Mane on Thursday encouraged youths to look for job opportunities in the private sector, as they are varied. This came as a remark to reporters on the sidelines of opening the sixth exhibition of job and study opportunities organized by the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) in cooperation with the "my job” fair, with the participation of 120 government agencies.
The minister, who is also the sponsor of the exhibition, said the event is a good chance to help fresh graduates be briefed on the labor market. The exhibition was opened with a panel discussion on "labor market and job opportunities,” in which acting deputy head of manpower affairs Najat Yusuf and acting undersecretary of the Civil Service Commission Diaa Al-Qabandi participated. The participants highlighted some problems facing fresh graduates in the labor market, topped by reluctance of the private sector’s jobs and being unaware of the requirements of the labor market.
They suggested some solutions, including enacting some laws that will enable researchers to become acquainted with job opportunities in the public and private sectors, duties and rights, as well as attracting global companies and establishing production lines to recruit youth. Meanwhile, Hassan Al-Fajjam, head of PAAET, told reporters that the authority is keen on holding this exhibition and seeking to create job opportunities for graduates, mainly in the private sector. He appealed to youths to become acquainted with job and study opportunities at the exhibition.
In another development, the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) has confirmed its keenness to reform the labor market in the country and contribute to providing all services aimed at supporting graduates and job seekers with employment from various specialties in the private sector. The authority said in a press release that as part of its endeavor to build and refine young people and support their self-confidence, it participated in the job fair, which is the largest career gathering in the country.
PAM is providing services for those wishing to obtain career opportunities. These include providing career counseling services and professional aptitude tests, in addition to developing their cognitive skills, reviewing the training courses and professional development programs available and other things that encourage young people to engage in the labor market. The authority stated that it also seeks to open employment doors for young people in various fields in the private sector in order to achieve the New Kuwait 2035 vision. — KUNA
