KUWAIT: Minister of Information Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi said yesterday Al-Arabi magazine has been a pan-Arab cultural beacon since its establishment in 1958. Intellectuals, writers and men of letters have contributions to Al-Arabi magazine, which is an added value to Arab literature, Mutairi, also Minister of State for Youth Affairs, said in a statement during a visit to the magazine.

"We seek in the coming period to see further development of this iconic magazine, through expanded meetings with writers and Kuwait Writers Association to have a harmonious path with the New Kuwait 2035 vision," he said. Kamel Al-Abduljalil, Secretary General of the National Council for Culture, Art and Letters, said Al-Arabi magazine "is Kuwait's cultural ambassador to the Arab world".

Al-Arabi, he added, has a cultural heritage which gives the publication heavy cultural weight. Al-Arabi Chief Editor Ibrahim Al-Mulaifi, speaking to KUNA, said they discussed with Mutairi the activation of the magazine's online contents. He said there were plans to distribute Al-Arabi magazine in five European countries. - KUNA
