KUWAIT: The State of Kuwait has affirmed great significance of the UN resolution addressing the issues of missing persons and civilians’ protection in armed strife. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement released on Tuesday, stated, "On the fifth anniversary of the UN Security Council’s issuance of the Resolution 2474/2019 regarding persons missing in armed strife, unanimously adopted on June 11, 2019, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses the State of Kuwait’s affirmation of the great importance of this humanitarian resolution.

"It is considered a legal reference for international action to tackle issues of the missing persons in armed conflicts and protecting the civilians in strife.” The State of Kuwait, on this occasion, values efforts at the local, regional and international levels to tackle the questions of the missing people in the armed strife and disclose their destiny, the ministry statement said. It has also affirmed necessity that efforts be doubled, that stakeholders adhere to the international, humanitarian and human rights’ as well the UNSC resolutions, namely Resolution 2474. — KUNA
