KUWAIT: The Choose Kuwait Female League (CKFL) marked a significant milestone in the history of Kuwaiti sports, with its season which commenced on May 3. The league featured six competitive female teams, each managed by a dedicated manager and coach, exemplifying the spirit of sportsmanship and teamwork.

Over the course of one month, the league captivated fans with its high level of competition. The teams battled fiercely in a points-based system, where only the top four teams could advance to the semi-finals. The semi-finals were played in a thrilling home-and-away format, ensuring that the best of the best would emerge to compete for the championship.

The semi-finals culminated in a dramatic showdown, with team Al-Ahmadi and Al-Assima emerging victorious and earning their spots in the final. Al-Ahmadi was able to win over Al-Assima with a decisive 2-0 victory, securing the Season 1 trophy as the league’s first champions. Team Haido was able to clinch third place, while Team Oud secured a respectable fourth place finish.

The success of the league has not only provided a platform for showcasing the talents of Kuwaiti female athletes but has also inspired a new generation of girls to pursue their dreams in sports. An awards ceremony that was hosted by Kuwait Technical College on May 29 crowned the season’s achievements, recognizing individual excellence alongside team success.

Sara Gago of Al-Ahmadi was honored as the Best Manager, while Amer Alsuwait from Al-Assima earned the Best Coach award. The Best Goalkeeper accolade went to Hadeel Koteich from Al-Ahmadi, reflecting her crucial role in their victory. The Rising Star award was presented to Kenzy Ayman from Al-Assima, highlighting her exceptional potential and impact on the field. The Best Captain was awarded to Seham Behbehani from Team Oud celebrating her exemplary leadership.

Sherifa Alghanim from Al-Assima was named the Best Player of the season, a testament to her outstanding performance leadership and sportsmanship on and off the field. The “Choose Kuwait Female League” has set a high standard for future seasons, promising even more excitement and opportunities for female athletes in Kuwait. As we celebrate the achievements of this season, we look forward to the continued growth and development of women’s sports in our country.
